When the paper is stored permanently on the system the warped core makes the paper difficult to manage, with a distinct wobble visible in the background drop when it is pulled down. This problem occurs quite quickly - it's noticable after two or three days of non-movement. When the roll is held by the ends only, the paper's weight can make the core sag in the middle.

Whilst it is true that some systems work without a shaft or pipe through the core, please be aware. No, not for the paper with cardboard tube/core. Is a metal shaft or pipe needed in addition to the Expan ends? If I purchase the Bogen Manfrotto Expan thing, do those ends insert I prevent the loosely cored paper from running out under it's own weight by inserting a rubber door wedge between core and pole. This makes paper changing a great deal safer too, because I hate climbing ladders with huge rolls of paper to hang up. Therefore, I can lower my paper and wind it up tight whilst standing on the floor. My own home made system uses plain old rope and pulleys, with 1" poles. It is very tiresome to have to climb ladders to wind up the paper. The 2" core on 1" pipe will be a very sloppy fit of course, and as you say, not much use if you wish to wind up ceiling mounted paper by means of chains pulled from floor level. On them, I want to use the 1" pipe as I already have the brackets I do not wish to purchase the pipes with the rubber rings already

Is there any product thatĪcts as a "Core Adapter" to make the cardboard paper core fit snugĮxpanding core end fittings are made, but they are usually part of a system for paper support, and I feel it is unlikely that you will be able to make them work with the pipe/brackets you already have. It's no surprise I use larger diameter waste water pipe for that! They need to be decanted onto a core obtained separately. Typically the internal diameter of the cardboard core is 2" (inches), but watch out(!) - the smaller half width rolls are often sold without any core at all. The core that this paper come on? I wasnt' able to find this on any Want to use the 107" wide rolls by savage. I've been using Musliln backdrops and want to try paper rolls.
